What Backstop is
Backstop is software that lets a youth-sports league collect a volunteer deposit as a card on file instead of a paper check, and keeps a defensible record of what was agreed and what happened. Your league — not Backstop — sets the volunteer policy, decides whether a deposit is charged, and is the merchant of record for any charge. Backstop is not a party to the deposit and never holds your money.
Your account
You sign in with a one-time email link — there is no password to manage. Keep access to your email secure, since that is how your account is protected.
Acceptable use
Use Backstop only for your league's legitimate registration and volunteer-deposit purposes. Do not attempt to access another family's records, disrupt the service, or misuse it in any way.
Payments
Cards are saved and any charges run through Stripe on your league's own connected Stripe account. Backstop takes no cut of a deposit; the platform is funded by a separate fee paid by the league.
No warranty and limits
Backstop is provided as-is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, Backstop is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform.
Changes
We version these terms rather than silently replacing them. When they change we publish a new version with its own effective date, and prior versions stay available on request.
